Given what we’ve been through since GB it’s
understandable to want more certainty. The MT induced euphoria has been palpable and let’s admit it, over the top. MT never claimed he could part the Red Sea.

We need some news about the new DC and OL coaches. More interested in that then which recruits we get or don’t get.

Next year’s schedule is fantastically tough. We’ll be fine.

I don't enough about these guys to opine but the MT 'B' grade is probably accurate assuming when MM was hired you gave him a C-?

Great scouting report. I went and read his UGA profile after asking you
He has coached at a higher level than past OCs under MM and he really did help those Os produce. Being around that UGA O hopefully spoiled him and he wants great talent to be able to do great things. What he did at Louisiana was outstanding. He might be a great catch.

I like what you wrote about him having the trust and admiration of Smart and Chaney and how creative he was with Fields. Maybe Viska will be his new project, if Viska gets healthy.

Great writeup, thank you. I was not impressed when I first heard he was hired. I thought CU could get an established wunderkind but you've sold me. I think he's clearly an upgrade and an attractive one.

Thank you. We just need to get you on CU game broadcasts now.

Record setting O at UL. Substantial improvement at Minny.
Got Leidner to play well and score vs B1G competition. Energetic teacher/technician on field. Liked by Smartt and Chaney. Trusted by MT. Integral for UGA move to gun. Schemed packages for Fields. Cerebral. Has watched a lot of film recently. Reportedly whispered in Chaney’s ear when analysts were allowed in the booth. Knows how to create space and numbers in a balanced O

Moderate expectations. I do expect he will close better than we imagine.
He should be able to sell a vision of improvement, a new culture, where CU should be going and a genuine opportunity to play immediately. I also think he can at least pull the same type of 3-star guys the last staff did and might surprise with one 4-star guy.

Hopefully next season the recruiting will be surprisingly good and we'll all be excited.

Didn't know that. Great nugget. Also reportedly is loved by Chip & Urban
Maybe the timing wasn't yet right at BC. But maybe fans and BC wishes they had a mulligan.

I suspect Day will do very well. I just hope fans don't expect him to be Urban Meyer right away or things could go sideways.

Lincoln Riley has exceeded the hype (with Bob Stoops' players) but he has so much momentum going, I expect him to keep ascending in stature. Maybe, just maybe, the next Dabo.

Buddy from MA says they are still talking about him and his stint at BC. Could have taken the kid, but they took Spaz and Daz.

I think it would be astute thinking to strongly consider
As the Ralphie Report said, maybe have him coach TEs, STs and focus on being a Texas recruiter. He just got hired as a consultant at UT but you know that is only meant to be a bridge paycheck and resume builder for him.

Thank you for satiating my curiosity. Thoughts...
I agree that tOSU could have brought in a bigger name with a national coaching search because that job is a diamond. But the power there must believe they have the next Sean McVay or Lincoln Riley (although I agree with you that will be hard to duplicate).

Also agree with you on Wells if he's not bringing in assistants from higher level competition who also recruit at a higher level. What could go wrong with that!!

We agree on K at KSU and Collins at GTech. Great fits.

Mack is going to the AR offense? Maybe he wants to be seen as progressive yet I think what AR teams don't stress their defense? Control the ball? Run the ball well? I guess WSU did well this season but I don't like that approach.

The thing to watch with Mack is will he prove to have his biggest strength still being sharp, his ability to recruit? That was his ticket at UNC and UT both. He had such GREAT talent that coaching was easy.

Mel Tucker A- and the rest of those candidates get a B+ or worse
We got the best of the bunch. All we need now is a Poly o-line coach and some recruiters to fill out the staff.

At KU. Good personality.

I think he's going to do well. Here's something ironic
KU hired an assistant from Texas A&M and that blew up in their faces. The guy was Hue Jackson of the NCAA. That bad. (Although I agree with the Ralphie Report in it saying Beaty would be a great assistant for CU in the right role, with his Texas recruiting connections).

Now KSU hires Klieman, who I think is a great fit. He didn't just win, he dominated. He was there when Carson Wentz was there too. I see him building that program into a dangerous one and yes, they will knock down some of the conference heavyweights from time to time.

I love Day. Not sure he is a Riley. They could have opened
Up a national search and done better (I think).

I probably missed on Satterfield more than anybody else. He’s good.

I like Wells a lot. I don’t like his move on bringing so many assistants from USU.

I like Tucker. A lot. Not on my original list. I just don’t think fit is as good as K at KSU and Collins at GT. Both of those just seem perfect to me. Collins is super energy and he will recruit ATL hotbed.

See where Mac is gonna run the AR at UNC? Hired OM OC and TT OL coaches.

Klieman
Coaching since ‘91 and has a grand total of one year at the FBS level. He’s been very successful at the FCS level and he has a lot of experience in the Midwest.

No evidence he can recruit in the Big 12. Granted, KSU seems to target different players than OU, Texas, and Okie St. I’d love to see him bring the success he had at NDSU and knock the conference heavyweights down.

CU football
I'm good right now. Yes, there are a lot of unanswered questions. However, the answers to some questions after the change have a chance to be positive. Answers to the same questions before the change weren't very good. I'm sure you know what I mean. I don't get excited about answers from the recruiting wars. I can't worry about the whims of teenagers any more. I have two daughters in their 30s so I did that before. :-)

(Uh oh! I have 3 little granddaughters so if I'm around long enough I'll have to go through more teenage stuff.)

With Mel we will be Swell.

Definitely a good test tonight.
Surprised to see we're 4.5 pt favorites. A full house, raucous crowd will make our young team show poise, particularly against a pressure defense. If we take care of the ball, NM allows a lot of points. Turnovers will be the key.

We'll learn a lot about our team tonight. We need vintage Kin.

NMU hungry for home win
I just looked at their schedule. Bizarre. They've played NMSU twice already, and lost both including a close one in the Pit. Based on their scores they don't look good, but CU can never seem to play 2 complete halves on the road. Maybe they'll figure out how to solve that during this big road string. If not, their season is toast.

Hell, half the P12 is part of the FBI investigation. But here we are and Porky is still roaming the sidelines along with Andy Encheat.

If Tad really wants Sweet 16
He'd better start really competing for 5* like Oregon, and other P12 schools get annually. Most Sweet 16 teams have at least 1 NBA baller.

He has a great stroke food shooter, goes after rebounds, decent passer.
In G league he was physical going after rebounds and block outs. He has a 7' wingspan. He'll work on defense, don't know how well he will do though.

RG wants championships, Boyle wants to be in the sweet 16, not to different
If TB wins the regular season PAC-12 this year or next he keeps this job for a while if he wants to. If not, RG has now proven that he wants championships and TBs tenure could end after 2019-20 season, barring a season collapse this year. That's my opinion. It seems likely with RG's current trajectory, that some sort of improvements to the CU Events center should be forthcoming.

I'm OK with it now
Yes, it was super frustrating to see all of UIC's driving layups, but I think pushing CU to actually work in the switching m2m will pay dividends. Tad knows they will have to play zone and we'll see it Tuesday in The Pit. Besides getting burned too much by the Flames, I'm encouraged by this team's effort and depth so far. We'll see if they can actually get some road Ws. If not, I think RG should find a coach who instills a culture of preparing and expecting to win EVERY game. Sorta like the FB coach he just hired.

Tad's last chance to dance?
I know there is much disagreement about Tad and his performance over the past 9 years. Is this article planting the seeds for Tad's last chance? Seems like it to me. If he doesn't make some noise in a weak PAC12 this year he may be gone.

Agree that Lydon should be given some minutes, a test. What will he bring?
Will he play hard, play intelligently, mesh well with the guys he plays with, score at all three levels, hit a high percentage of shots, REBOUND and not be a liability on defense?

Lyles can start but I too prefer Plumlee with Jokic, w/ Lyles off the bench
And it's time to see if Lydon can capably handle some minutes, provide some rebounding and shot making and not be a sieve on defense.

Why didn’t mm run some wishbone. You guys do know there is
Limited time in a practice and if you try to do everything you are good at nothing. The defense caused 26 turnovers. So tired of the zone talk. They held uic under their season ave. By 9 points.

Tonight was ugly. Need to be careful what I wish for.
I think we'll see lots of different lineups with Juancho and Beasley each playing two positions. Plumlee may even start with Jokic. If Lydon gets alot of time it will only be if Lyles continues to struggle.

Agree!
He should have at least tried it. It was disheartening seeing so many open shots in the paint. On the flip side, it was nice to see some of the football season ticket holders take advantage of the free tickets today. And the best thing... they did not turn on the damn air at halftme, so we didn't freeze in the second half!

With all due respect, if UIC and San Diego are watermark games
For the Buffs, it speaks volumes of where this program is right now. The media and Tad make it look like CU is playing Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, etc.

Nice win today, but not really showing if they can compete to make the tourney. Hope they continue to improve and take advantage of a down P12.

Anybody know why Tad refuses to play zone?
This game would've been over by half if we had some sort of defensive plan. UIC drove to the hoop at will. Layup after layup, UIC FG was 60% because the Buffs were overplaying the perimeter and getting beat to the hoop.

That said, good to see McKinley, Gatling, Battey, Bey in action. Get Walton back next year and this team should be really fun.
