Most coaches could be seen as
retreads, since they constantly move from school to school. I don't know of any assistant coaches who haven't moved around consistently, often because the HC is fired and the new guy wants his own people.
I read Neil Woelk's article carefully, and nowhere does he mention that the two families know each other, nor is there a quote from MM or Roper saying that "friendship" played a part in it. It would be normal for coaching families to be friends, but that doesn't seem to be a factor.
I think this constant negativity fosters an off-season climate of despair, cynicism, and hopelessness here at Netbuffs. This is a fan board, and if all hope is taken away from the fans, then we have nothing.
MM is not leaving, JL is not returning, Cumby will not be hired, Butch Davis will not be hired at CU, and we have to do the best we can with what we have. Don't take hope away from the fans by condemning a coach before he has even set foot on the field.
Let's not spend the off-season being pessimistic and angry.
