In the '80s, the average fan knew little about a coach and even less about the assistants, recruiting, etc. How many CU games were televised in '86?
In 2017, a library of data and information is at our fingertips. Almost every game is televised. We can DVR a game and watch it a dozen times. We can't get in the locker room or coaches meetings, but we know far more about this team and coaches than we did in '86.
I don't see anything in this staff that resembles Mac I and his stellar staff. Mac was a longtime assistant at Michigan before coming to Boulder. He knew big time talent. He didn't need hidden gems or smoke and mirrors to win. He could go into a families living room and compete with Switzer and Osborne for a recruit. Who on the current staff can compete with Peterson or Shaw??
