Pelini didn't have the strong CA ties. He tried to go head-to-head with Ohio St, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc for the top Midwestern recruits. He did ok but that's a tough battle.

Riley is hitting the recruiting hotbeds hard, just like Osborne did.
