you call the police not get in contact with a person's employer when you are getting physically and verbally abused. .

Since when is the inner workings of a personal, intimate relationship between adults the responsibility of any employer? What is the connection?

In the future are employers now responsible for how employees dress outside of the office, their personal hygiene after hours or if they paint their house a color their neighbors object to?

To the OP, no one has here has said this is fake news. Many just have a hard time understanding why, other than they have deep pockets, the University now has some sort of culpability in how the 32,000 employees conduct themselves in their private lives.
