Is it always wise to sign players related to coaches?

We've had this issue at CU, with Cody Hawkins and now Jay McIntyre. Now I see BYU will have TWO QBs who are both nephews of OC Ty Detmer.

I have to wonder how that would effect recruiting. If I'm a HS QB and BYU knocks on my door, I would wonder if I'll get a fair shot or if the QB position is locked up for the next several years.

Could BYU miss out on a legit stud because he doesn't want to compete with nepotism?? Should schools stay away from players related to coaches?
