It doesn't hurt to look, but
I don't know what one game as a DC in the bowl game will tell you that you don't already know from his previous DC experience plus the body of work from the past two years. It's all over the film. JL was a stud, but I think the thing that jumps out on the film from our defense over the past few years is the DB play. I think there's a greater chance of him getting a better offer than of us finding a better fit. And CU is cheap when it comes to paying coaches. That's a factor. JL was always a stretch. Tumpkin would probably take DC for a lower price tag than a bigger name DC candidate, and then you have money to keep the other ACs happy.
Do you think we'll find someone with a better resume? And if so, wouldn't you expect that to be another gun for hire? How does that affect the chemistry of the entire coaching staff? Guys who have been part of the rise are going to want to get paid.
