We had a Cinderella year because we had some very gritty seniors and unusually good defensive secondary. Also, when healthy, Sefo made the offense go with his tough runs. Last night both the defensive line and offensive line got exposed and a hobbled Sefo could not make the plays he made most of the season. Montez did make a couple of throws, but he was largely ineffective too, going 5-12 and 30 yards. Maybe our best bet would have been planned runs and pitch backs with him. At the very least, we should have a 2nd gameplan prepared knowing full well that Sefo is injury prone due to his physical style and the lack of pass protection by our inferior OL, but that's hindsight now. M.M went with the senior leader who got us here. There is plenty of legitimate second guessing to go around, but it doesn't change or discredit the tremendous year-4 under M.M.

I thought 7-5 would be a break-out year for us. This was much better than that and now we've gotten the attention of recruits and can begin to build the kind of program that can compete with same level players.
