Huskers were a very middling team until they hired Bob "Let the Jailbirds Out" Devaney away from WYO in the early '60's. He then ensconced the "Fusker Way" in Lincoln: Recruit really questionable characters, bail them out of jail for the Saturday games and cheat in recruiting those monster, academically-challenged kids from SEC territory, because those teams remained segregated.

Buffs actually held the Fuskers to NO first downs and less than 100 yds. total offense in one game played in the early '60's.
