Despite being on probation USC's recruiting classes were ranked #1 per average recruit rating in 2012, 2013, and 2015. In 2014 there were #2 and in year 2016 #3.

I have no idea what sort of attrition they have had but their last 5 recruiting classes they have signed 16 5-star players and 54 4-star players.

Talent isn't the issue.
