I hate to tell you this but your demographic stats are wrong. We’re about 40% Hispanic, 8% Poly, and 3% (each) black, Asian, and Native American. That’s as of right now. Also, you seem to subconsciously be equating minorities with poverty and Caucasians with middle or upper class which, IMO, is racist. Many of our white students are very poor.
As I have said many times, Provo High is THE most diverse and poorest school in Utah County and we are among the poorest and most diverse in the state. About 70% of the low income housing in the county is in our zone. Is that diverse and poor compared to inner city LA?? No but I have never made that claim. I have also never said we are in a poor area. The neighborhoods areound BYU aren’t bad. The poor kids are bussed here from several neighborhoods around Provo. Our school board does an excellent job of keeping the poor kids here so the rich kids at our rival school don’t have to see them.
