Time to move on,

I want to believe you work with poor and troubled kids, trying to get them freed of the bonds of poverty and hopelessness that so enslave them. But your words about a black kid at Provo High were not consistent with the characteristics a builder of men must have.

Let's us pretend that your fabrication was real. It is not a pleasant fiction. What is gained from it, other than assuring that a kid who had problems in his High Schoool years will forever be dogged by them? At what point as a teacher does a kid cross your line in the sand, at which point they are beyond redemption - beyond caring? How difficult it must be - to pretend to care about the wellbeing of kids when you continue to hold them in contempt years after they have left. Your fiction tells a far worse story of you than the truth must be.

I reject your fiction, and I reject the notion of you it presents. Because you do teach in the toughest of schools - with a huge free and reduced lunch population in the SLC area - you have shared that with all if us - I believe you are engaged in the noblest of work. I believe you care about the kids - and I want to believe you fight the hardest for those most at risk.

So you took your cheap shot - and I outed it, and I also have outed you for the fundamental decency that I believe drives you. You have a flaw - I have worse - many worse flaws. And your good work is far better than mine,

I still believe in you - your a true Buff fan and gave a lot of good things to say, As it has been for years - I will look forward to your posts (well - most if them anyway),

When you really do run into a 6'10" kid with great potential - but real problems -- build him up, get his confidence going, and send him over to Tad Boyle, imagine the lives you would change!
