Be kind of careful when you accuse a school of protecting football players that are charged with rape. This was the same charge about CU -- that they were knowingly protecting student athletes who had committed rape.
I have been following the BYU incident with interest, because when there is a rape charge at BYU, it must reported to the Title IX office, who then reports to the Honor Code office. So, even if the woman hasn't violated the Honor Code, it is believed that she did so. In the case of Madi Barney, she was assaulted in her off-campus apartment by a 36 year old who was not a BYU student at all.
If you have proof that BYU is protecting football players who are charged with rape, then post it. But, avoid this kind of nebulous gossip, where you imply that BYU has a lot of "on the field" problems with athlete rapists. Yes, they have a controversy with their Honor Code office, but I don't see that any football players or athletes are involved.
Also -- if you teach across the street from BYU, then you teach at Provo High School. That is the only school that appears to be across the street from BYU. But, from what you were saying all these years, I was thinking that you taught on the west side of Salt Lake, in an area with many Latino, African-American, and Pacific Islander students. I was thinking that you were teaching the Samoan and Tongan kids. William calls it the SLC Valley, not downtown SLC.
Let's keep the discussion factual and calm here. -- B4E
