Been out. Sorry about your bro. Had my first attack in '80 Right great toe. Terrible Afew months later another one. Went to the doc, said it was gout and gave me indocin to help me recover. Right. I was laid up for two weeks and the stuff just beat me up. He put me on low dosage allopurinal. Awhile later another attck, so I doubled the doseage. Not smart. No more attacks but I finally todl him what I was doing. So he upped the doseage himself. Also, at that time he gave me three of three different shaped pills (round, square, triangle) called voltarin. Miracle drrug for me. I'd get an attack take one (full dosage) and in an hour the gout would be gone.
But I had some kidney problems and was told not to take it anymore. Allopurinal was upped to 250 mils and have almost no problems for 20 years. Last week a little in my knee, took perdnisone and am fine.
However, my wife does watch what I eat and drink so my weekend will be pretty bland!
