Absolutely the case. They produce the services and goods that are sold to

generate the revenue. The people that have the line jobs turn out the products and the services. If they are not at work, there's no bottom line. That's why employee strikes are so damaging to the company.
And on the same note- The CEO's of America's largest firms earn three times more than they did 20 years ago, and at least 10 times more than 30 years ago. And, no one says, "Oh, those wage increases are bad for the economy. Look at all the inflation created by those wage increases. "
