It's basic football. I can understand a walk-on kicker doesn't garner that much excitement. However, a kicker and the surrounding players can win or lose a couple of games per season. If you go 8-4 with a decent kicker, snapper, holder, and blockers up front that make 2 critical kicks and win 2 games, you have a good season. If the kicker is horribly inconsistent and misses 2 kicks that would otherwise win 2 games, you go 6-6 instead of 8-4. Big difference.

A kicker who can put the ball in the end zone also prevents big returns and keeps an opponent deeper in their own territory. That can make a big difference. I'm simply talking basic football and Colorado hasn't had consistent kickers for a while.
