Warning. I'm being totally NOT serious, but there is a point here.


Even if a guy like Saban came to CU, it doesn't mean he could turn the program around. The environment, recruiting base, demographics, and support system are totally different animals.

I think college football coaching is very much a niche type of industry. You've got to have the right fit for the right environment. Saban did do pretty well at MSU, in an entirely different conference, but even that situation is quite a bit different than CU's.

I am still holding out hope that M.M is going to be successful here. This is not another Dan Hawkins type of hire, but he will require a few years. He actually built a winner at SJSU. Hawkins never built anything. It looks as though he was merely in the right place at the right time. The recruiting interest in CU seems to be picking up, but 2017 will be the ultimate test. Either it is drastically better or I will have to admit things may never get better at all in the W/L record and M.M will probably have to go.
