Option football is back. Did anyone see FSU last night?
I was surprised at how many running formations they used with two backs. The tight-end is lined up close to the tail back so it looks at times like they have 3 backs in the game. Norvell runs what is called a smash-mouth RPO or spread option. Probably similar to Coastal Carolina and maybe a bit of Wake Forest combined. The formation pairs well with a vertical passing game because DBs get so focused on the run.
They ran the ball 44 times last night and passed it 30. This is not the same offense we've seen from FSU in the past. It's a physical attack and I'd like to see it here.
