It's not so much five-star athletes IMO, it's consistency of recruiting
good prospects.
Tad is a better overall recruiter than Ricardo Patton (although Ricardo was good at getting the high-caliber player) but the two coaches share a similarity, again, IMO.
They struggle to string together really good recruiting classes.
And with Ricardo, he couldn't get three really good players, or even two at times, in one class. Tad has been better but not always great.
Tad will go from a class of four and high three-star recruits to diamonds in the rough. When they work out, great. But that's not sustainable. At this point in his career, this many years in and with the 20-win seasons, it's time to get higher-ranked players and more consistently good classes. Tad should also be helped by Buffs playing in the NBA and professionally overseas.
