Worth the price of admission? Depends.

To you and I, sure. Nolan makes a great play or two, Rocks lose we're still happy bc we got to see those plays. However, I doubt that his play had an effect on the gate unless we were in a play off race.
Meanwhile, in our small market if we pay Nolan 50m per year, there is less $ to build around him even less if we were paying Story or someone like him too.
I'd take a moneyball approach where 8 good yet affordable players (leaving out pitchers) can produce nearly the same production.
For example,Todays Rockies are leading the natl league in batting average, and were before Bryant returned. We are now as productive or better as when Nolan was here.
Btw I was a big Mike Schmidt fan (who wasn't) but look at those players around him. We could never afford a lineup like that or the ones today in NY LA or Boston.
So id spread the $ around to all the positions try to create a solid if not spectacular team and when we get pitchers that can pitch here like Bard and Gray, keep and pay them. Still not sure why we let Gray walk.
