Nolan is one of those very few players who, by himself, is worth the price of admission. He's in the rare category of a Trout, Harper, Soto, Betts, Acuna, Tatis, etc.

You have to consider the complete player, including defense. Arenado has a WAR of 5.1 compared to Charlie's 1.3. Nolan has 9 Gold Gloves, 5 Platinum Gloves and 4 Silver Sluggers. Arguably the best all-around 3rd baseman in the history of the game (which is quite a compliment since I grew up watching Mike Schmidt).

He's a franchise-type player that you build a team around. The fact that the Rockies won't do so is why they desperately need new ownership.
