Colorado High school--as opposed to club--hockey wasn't a sanctioned sport


until around 2000. A local coach "created" the Monarch High School team in Louisville (he had two sons there). There were no other teams that were strictly made up of a single school's players. That first year the only non-practice competition they had was going to a tournament in Dallas with (single school) teams from around the Southwest. Monarch didn't have a senior class at the time but finished 3rd. My son was on that team.
