I suppose by a few cents, but why would he have done that?

He possibly could've looked ahead and foreseen high oil prices - and high ALL prices for that matter, as nearly all economists predicted - but remember how paralyzed our economy was in early 2021? The priority then was to get the economy's heart beating again.

Plus prices were low in early 2021.

Plus he would've completely been ignoring the damage to CO2 levels, which is what the GOP routinely does.

Plus he would've been violating his promise to shift focus on alternatives.

Plus, even if that was the decision, the prices today would be a few cents cheaper. US would have to increase drilling by a third or more to even move the needle on gas prices.

This whining from the right about high gas prices is purely political. The people most affected by this are poorer people - never a GOP priority unless it helps them politically. It's just drama.
