World Swimming Transgender Ban

FINA has decided to limit trans athletes to only those who transitioned at age 12 or earlier, effectively banning transgender athletes from international swimming competition.

The governing body said they will work to create an open division for Trans athlete participation.

Personally, I have always thought a trans or open division was the only fair solution, given the physical advantages post puberty male to female athletes possess.

The image of Lia Thomas towering over her competitors on the medal stand was straight from South Park.

While some groups are upset, I'm sensing that most agree with the move as a chance to restore some fairness in women's sports.

Could this be a moment where other sports adopt similar standards?

I don't know but think it will be interesting to see how things evolve from here now that this standard has been set by FINA
