Would a draft be possible in college football?

As I was restlessly trying to get to sleep (anxious about the hernia surgery today), I began thinking about what BuffsIn2022 said about the NFL vs. College. He is absolutely right. So, how do we fix it to make college football more equitable and competitive among all contenders like in the NFL? How do we give everyone a chance to succeed, even the lowly teams like CU?

If there is going to be money thrown at these college kids why should they get to choose their team? With NIL, college has become less of an education priority for athletes anyway. As long as we have recruiting and transfer portals the competitiveness and fun of the game will forever be gone IMHO. Just imagine for a minute a P5 Draft process where every P5 team takes turns picking the player they want. Like the NFL, the teams who finished worse get the higher picks. Those who don't get picked are like free agents and can get picked up by other teams or put in a request to join as a walk-on.. The way scouts are watching these kids before they enter high school, it is going to be very difficult for anyone to fly under the radar. No transfer portal. It's a 3-4 year contract. Period. With this arrangement, I think we have to consider the G5 teams and whether or not they become part of the draft process? Is that too many teams? Lots of questions to be answered here, but consider the possibilities.

This would truly put the emphasis on superior coaching, discipline, competitiveness for all schools regardless of money. Fan support will still play a role, but not as much as it used to.
