European league style. I mentioned this a while ago as well as someone else. Maybe kev but back when I played over seas, football(not soccer) was set up in 3 divisions. Top, middle and not good teams. they all play within their divisions during the season. At end of year in division 2 team plays the bottom of division 1 team. If win, they move up the D1 and other team drops to D2 the next season. Same goes for D2 vs D3. Makes sense to me.
