Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Avalanche or Rockies
Those teams didn't come into existence until long after I moved away from Colorado. I have no emotional connection to them like I do with the Broncos and CU.
I also didn't like how the Avs had instant success right after moving from Quebec. It didn't seem "earned" (if that makes sense) and IMO it spoiled the fans. I don't like the Rockies because I see very little effort from the ownership to build a successful team. IMO they are robbing the fans. No way I would pay for a Rockies ticket. At least the Avs try to win.
Long story of how I became an Oilers fans. I visited Alberta a few times as a kid (before the Oilers were in the NHL) and I loved it. I was in junior high when the Oilers joined the NHL and I had an instant connection. I even liked that they wore blue and orange like the Broncos. That was strengthened, of course, when the started winning Stanley Cups. It was cool to see a small market team in the middle of nowhere be so successful. When the dynasty ended and the Oilers came down to earth, I got to cheer for them as underdogs.
I like the Avalanche and cheer for them when they're not playing the Oilers. :)
