One of a million
I know him not. He was my neighbor’s brother. He was 70 and lived up in Denver. He was deeply tied to the anti-vax movement - protest government and even Criticizing those around him who chose vaccination.
He became ill in December. He was in the hospital in early January and put on a ventilator. Spent the rest the rest of his life in the hospital. There were times when he lapsed into pneumonia and other complications. Then he would seem to recover again. Spent four months in that hospital before finally passing.
The funeral was two weeks ago. My neighbor took him his grandchildren for a couple of weeks while his niece and Her husband took some time to recover.
So he is one of 1 million. We know the number is higher - the losses are staggering. Living for months on a ventilator in a place where you are alone most of the time. Imagine the toll on the family. So very many lost.
His four year old grandson plays across the street. A tow headed little boy who can’t stop running and exploring and laughing. It would be something - watching him grow up.
