I am saying their scholarships should be taxable.

I have heard many argue the reason athletes should not receive more money is because they will receive high tax bills later.

I was trying to point out how ridiculous that argument is. If I had an employer and he offered to double my salary, I would never turn it down for the reason I didn't want to pay higher taxes next year.

I believe, at least regarding taxes, we share the same view.
