The tax argument is one of the worst ones out there
I wonder how many people, when told by their employer they are going to receive a raise, have declined it because it would result in a higher tax burden?
Athletes should get all they can, and then pay taxes on what they do get.
I bet if Rick George cut his own salary from $1M a year to $250k, the athletic dept would have more than enough money to give all the non-revenue scholarship athletes an additional check that would cover all their tax burdens for the year.
