Reading back over what happened, it looks as if

William were asking about direct U.S. involvement in Ukraine. He was asking specifically about whether the U.S. should send troops to fight or if a no-fly zone should be designated.
But then the discussion delved off-topic into American involvement in Afghanistan. I didn't see what that had to do specifically with the immediate situation in Ukraine. I think that is where it went off on a tangent.

I was thinking that you might comment on the Ukraine situation and our allies in Europe, especially Finland, about which you are very well informed. It looks as if Finland and Sweden, who have historically been neutral, might decide to apply for NATO membership. No one is sure how far Putin wants to expand Russia, so it's necessary for Finland, the Baltic countries, and Poland to have very strong defenses. - B4E
