The older we get, the more we want to re-create another life, one we couldn't afford before when we had a family to support and then help them here and there and next time we looked, it was just too difficult to start over somewhere so else but we still fantasize about it. (Except for my neighbors that left their home here intact and went to Hot Springs AK and never want to come back.)
Retirement is supposed to be about the "golden years", you know how people expect to go on around the world cruises, etc. or trek to some far off place they always dreamed about or even just to go to a place where you feel peaceful and content and sit on the porch in a rocking chair and look out at the blue grass and drink mint juleps or the ocean and palm trees or for me, in or around Sedona, AZ and the red rocks. I would have loved to live in John McCains ranch on the Verde River.
But most of us live out our lives right here, where we are now and still dream of those other places where it just wasn't meant for us to be. Maybe in the next life. [Post edited by Gateway at 01/11/2022 11:16PM]
