The big difference appears to be the resources each program has


U$C signaled to the rest of college football they have the resources to pull a coach from a blue blood, including the 8th highest paid coach in college football (2020 numbers).

Furthermore, Grinch (OU DC) was the 8th highest paid assistant in CF in 2020 ($1.8M). I bet he is getting a nice bump in pay as well in his journey from OU to USC.

Just wait until NIL gets ramped up. USC is absolutely going to destroy the OU's of the world by what Los Angeles can offer.

In college football, money is the key predictor of success (as opposed to the NFL). The USC boosters are clearly "all in" and have signaled to the rest of college football (including the SEC) they are now the new alpha dog.
