Are you saying the former Stanford football player and current trustee

that also endowed the head coaching position at Stanford doesn't have any input? (He also has given $50M to Stanford for the international studies institute, a center which bears his name).

I wonder if the guy that served up Mel Tucker's salary will have any say if MT eventually needs to be fired?

Shaw checks a lot of boxes for Stanford. He comes across as a very smart and articulate african-american coach who also appears to run a clean program and has had some success in the past. My guess is if Freeman makes a call and says Shaw gets "another year" he will get another year.
