Well okay but does a university have zero accountability?

Because that's what this article is about, that Baylor used what you're talking about as an opportunity for parents and students with zero risk. I get your point about some families benefiting from Parent Plus - we did! - but I was pretty savvy about not borrowing too much. I could totally see less savvy parents getting in really deep. In fact we talked a lot about it back then (2008-2012 for us.)

In my career I spent a substantial amount of time in insurance, so I understand responsible underwriting. I also spent some rougher years time in mortgages (wholesale) so I understand exploitation and opportunism. This sounds like the latter to me - Baylor taking advantage of eager, unsuspecting parents through a loose government program with billions available.
