Re: Gain of function research

My goodness. I can't imagine why my post hasn't clearly pointed out why I am disgusted with this sinister little man for anyone who reads it. I am surprised you wonder why this "laid back professor" is disgusted with him.

I was fine with Fauci until it was obvious to what he has been up to as a strong proponent of the extremely dangerous gain of function virology research and actually funding such research in the Wuhan Virology Lab. Read again what he wrote in the American Society for Microbiology in October 2012: "Gain of function research would be worth the risk even if it resulted in a pandemic-causing lab accident."

Do you think that research was worth the risk of a pandemic that has killed millions of innocent people and horribly affected millions of other lives with ruined economies, shutdowns of typical way of life, shutdowns of education for our precious children and so on?

Fauci knows exactly what went on with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a virus that came about from research that he intellectually supports and supported through funding with American dollars via the NIAID and NIH. He is lying and doing his best to hide from his involvement in it and knowledge of what happened.

And then there is the arrogance on top of it. He claims that attacks on him are attacks on science. As if he thinks he IS science. See the link. It comes right out of his mouth.

Yes, I am a retired emeritus professor. I spent 40 plus years in medical academics and research. I taught gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, embryology, teratology, and some pathology to medical, dental, PA and PT students. My research in teratology was nationally funded. I presented research results at national meetings and published papers in world wide peer reviewed, refereed journals. I usually don't blab about all of that, but it might suggest I know what goes on in medical academics and research. Most people in medical academics and research are pretty decent, caring, and usually humble people. Every once in a while you run into someone who thinks they are absolutely infallible and become swallowed up in their own arrogance and self-importance. Fauci has become one of them. I have never suffered people like that and I won't start now.
