Why would blind men be touching an elephant in the first place?

So many questions. Why is anyone, especially blind people, so close to an elephant? How dangerous. Why weren't they informed of the activity they would be engaging in? Some kind of cruel joke? They were ALL wrong? They're blind...couldn't their enhanced senses of touch, hearing and smell lead to at least ONE of them guessing elephant?

What a horribly irresponsible scenario you present. I hope no one got hurt...unless they were unvaccinated.
