Thanks for the attempt at intelligent dialogue...it's severely lacking

I'll try to be relatively brief, no one wants to read an EBN soliloquy, especially from someone who knows little about climate science. (Remember, half of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.)

Let's get a few things out of the way:

1) Climate change is real and must be addressed. Calling it a hoax is neither true nor helpful. Neither is saying the world will end in 12 years. Let's start by getting rid of the hyperbole on both sides.

2) Objecting to a draconian approach like the Green New Deal doesn't make one a "denier." Neither does recognizing that it requires a global solution in which China, India, etc. must also participate. 85% of the world's CO2 emissions comes from other countries.

We're stuck in the climate debate because we're focused on two non-starting options: A) government-imposed taxes and regulation (this doesn't work) or B) dismissing it altogether (this is stupid). There is a C) unleashing American entrepreneurship and ingenuity (much along the lines of what Stampy is proposing).

As a country, we're already making progress. According to the US Energy Information Administration, US CO2 emissions in 2019 were the lowest they have been since 1992. Per capita emissions were lower in 2019 than they’ve been at any time since at least 1950. And no doubt lower still in 2020.

Must we do better? Absolutely. But already we're moving in the right direction...without killing the economy.

Where should we re-double our efforts? Adaptation and mitigation. In 2020 we were forced to adapt our behavior and what do you know? We learned we could live without driving to the office every day. We could stay in touch with family and friends without hopping in the car or on an airplane. Incent, not punish, individuals and companies who cut C02 consumption through tax credits, etc.

Second, stop trying to have it both ways. Nuclear is a viable, safe and clean option (see France). Fracking produces more clean natural gas and reduces our dependence on dirty fossil fuels. And yes, smartly invest in wind, solar, etc., without blindly throwing money at it (i.e. Solyndra).

Third, mitigation. The only way to achieve the 2 degree Celsius goal is through carbon removal, not just emission reductions. Again, let's set ingenuity loose by incenting carbon capture technologies.

Guess I was unsuccessful in keeping this short. No doubt you disagree, but at least it could be start of a dialogue instead of the completely unproductive approach of "my way or the highway" that we're currently stuck in.

Thanks for asking.
