I’ve always been a believer in human-caused climate change

And have posted thoughts here before, though it’s probably been several years.

My belief has always been that the private sector will lead the way through innovation with cleaner technologies, which has been happening and is an ongoing process. The key though is solutions must be economically viable to become mainstream.

For example, biodiesel is less-efficient than standard diesel, and therefore was always going to be a dead end product. However natural gas does meet efficiency levels of diesel (often exceeding them when oil is high), and therefore has potential to increase in use. My old business was one of the first companies in the state to utilize nat gas trucks in Colorado, in 2010. Today they are very common for commercial vehicles that are locally based (cng lacks the infrastructure for over the road use) and pervasive in several industries. I’d note this is in spite of the lack of support from the far left because cng is a fossil fuel, even though it is substantially less pollutive than diesel.

My company did more to advance recycling in Colorado than anyone. I even have given a few speeches on the topic over the years, and have presented to a couple graduate classes. There were some spirited debates on occasion from some students who felt we have to reduce our consumption. I don’t disagree that would work, only that it would never gain mainstream acceptance, which seemed to piss some off. Ah, the naïveté of youth…
