Re: My aunt moved to Hot Springs to be closer to her children

Mary wanted to get away. She is listening to her son, who I'm sure is a trumper and says all the usual hate things about California. Except he's has a very good job up in the San Jose area or maybe more north and his and his wife's kids are grown and he is free to do and live however he pleases.

I don't think Mary's husband is that excited about moving there even if his brother is there, he's just going along with her. She's pretty impulsive. Who buys a house site unseen on the internet? Yes, his brother checked it out, but huh??? We live in a quiet town and not like in the midst of rioting, etc. Yes, traffic is hard. She says it takes them 2 hours to get to Capistrano where her daughter lives. I know it could take that long depending if it's a work day and the time you go, but is that enough to make you want to up and leave? I've known her over 45 years and sometimes I still don't quite understand her. I was very surprised when I found out they were leaving. She says she loves it there so she should spend the summer there and see if she still loves it instead of coming back home here.

As far as offering for Michelle to stay in her house, I'm the one that brought it up as a short term rental while they're here visiting and she jumped at it. I already decided to not use the house, but maybe the pool and back yard patio area and ask the pool guy to turn on the heater if they make it down in November and we will pay for any extra charge on the Edison bill.

But, nothing is set in stone now. We are hoping they will make it down here, but maybe there will be another wave and Canada will lock down again. It's still not fully open now. And maybe Mary and her husband will come back and put their house on the market and by November we could have new neighbors...that can afford around 900K if the RE market continues as it is now.
