A lot of the super young athletes who “just suck it up”

When they are young are the same athletes who, when they become a shitshow in their 30s, we say “how did that happen?”
I get your point, but I can’t imagine the pressure on these Uber athletes who basically spend their entire lives practicing a particular sport. I think Olympic sports and tennis are probably the most grueling.
Good for her for being honest about it. She could have just said she was taking a break without explanation.
And don’t underestimate the difference between athletes who play a team sport and solo athletes. Team athletes at least have some kind of buffer between themselves and the media and aren’t always 100% responsible for Ws and Ls. Tennis, golf, etc. are tougher if you don’t like being the center of attention. and if you lose, its all on you.
