Law Enforcement Officers

A very difficult and dangerous job. A friend of mine is now a retired police officer. We worked out at the same gym. He told me that one of the most gratifying things about the job was receiving thanks from citizens in the district he patrolled. He was one of the arresting officers of a serial killer in the individual's apartment. He was once in a shootout with a drug-crazed perpetrator with other officers. It was determined that he fired the 2 fatal shots. These incidents affected him in such a way that he eventually requested to complete his years on the force at a desk job in the administrative building instead of the street. He is a decent man who had a difficult and dangerous job. I have to believe the large majority of the men and women who serve in law enforcement are decent people. I have trouble understanding why those who show signs they don't belong can be tolerated.
