Was he that great a recruiter, or was Gonzaga a great hoops destination?

Probably a little of both. He'll be able to sell Tucson and UA hoops fans as a positive. But, can he coach when he gets them? And can he keep them? He knows and understands the big stage of college BB.

I'm sure he'll try to hire a great assistant x's and o's coach.

PAC12 coaches will use his lack of head coach experience against him, but there are plenty of coaches who thrived once they got their shot. Denny Crum of Louisville is a good example of a solid recruiter under John Wooden who did well right away when he got his first head coach. Scott Drew did one year as head coach at Valpo and then jumped straight to P5.
