I don't remember when they started closing practices to the public,

sometime around Barnett I think (guessing). I used to attend practice regularly back during the McCartney era in the early 90's. Point is, I don't see open public practices ever coming back. Every year someone will post the question if the practices are open to the public, and for 20+ years the answer has always been no. The programs who do allow the public to attend their practices are the rare exception nowadays, not the rule.

As for the Spring game, we've never had crowds over 10 or 15K in Folsom, so the whole "we need to stay away from a covid spreading event" narrative is, and always has been, a ridiculous argument in regards to CU spring ball. Colorado has never attracted the kind of crowd that would worry anyone.
