Cool article I just read on Gordon and the Nuggets

I think Denver overspent on both deals but I "see" the reasoning behind the moves.

I still wish the Nuggets found themselves another 2G for the bench but I'm cautiously optimistic to see what this team will prove to be.

I like Barton better in the backcourt where he rebounds and passes better and Gordon in the frontcourt where he rebounds, passes and defends better than Barton. McGee could be useful somehow some way if Denver plays Utah and Gobert or Phoenix and Ayton in the playoffs.

Getting rid of Gary Harris' contract is awesome. I loved him when he was getting better every year but injuries have ruined his effectiveness. Plus, availability is a skill and he lacks it.

What is troubling to me is the draft pick expenditure. Hampton was just a first round pick. Denver traded him and a first in 2025. Is Gordon worth two firsts? We shall see. The Nuggets now have no first round pick in 2023 or 2025. They burned their own first in 2021 on Jerami Grant, who played one year with the team. They burned a first in the Plum-Nurkic deal. I am convinced for all the good things Denver has been doing and is doing, they are real "loose" with first round (and second round) picks and that comes at a cost. They are trading a bunch of them. Teams often do that for stars but the Nuggets didn't get a star.

I do like Gordon however to improve the team plus I believe Denver just improved at two positions (Barton improves the rebounding, passing and scoring in the backcourt and Gordon improves the rebounding, passing and defense in the front court).

Now, good health throughout the team and build chemistry.

Love that Denver can bring veteran leadership and 3-point shotmaking off the bench in Millsap and Green, more three point shooting from Nnaji (likely won't play much in the playoffs), Campazzo's (and hopefully Morris too) distributing and energy off the bench, Dozier's quality contributions and in deep, deep reserve, the talent and skill of Bol.
