Valid questions. I would speculate his recruiting chops, being part of

championship football at two CFB gold standards and his offensive football acumen excited UT.

The thing is Tom Herman was considered a white hot property after Ohio State (assistant) and Houston.

Sark underwhelmed as a HC but with a clear head, personal and professional growth and the Alabama experience uploaded to his mind, he might finally be ready to succeed. And UT has resources to help him.
