I had to teach alcoholic teenagers and deal with their alcoholic parents. They were pretty terrible. I was never sued, but some other teachers were, along with the superintendent of the school district, who was a brilliant, caring man. The illness runs in families sometimes. They can be in a lot of denial. It is just my opinion, but a HC who sues a P-5 university in a very high profile lawsuit....is probably in denial about his own accountability for his condition.
People cannot help it if they inherited the illness of alcoholism from their parents and are genetically incapable of metabolizing alcohol. But, they are accountable for their behavior when dealing with the illness. JMO -- B4E
