So, do what you can to let her know that she is loved & honored & very

much in your hearts on Thanksgiving. For example:

1. Does she have a cell phone with Face Time? ( video conference?) If so, give her a call and include everyone in your family with a special message. Do your kids play a musical instrument or sing? If so, they can compose and perform a special song in her honor. They can make a special holiday card for her. For most elders, seeing the creations of grandchildren is a special treat.

2. If not, does she have a laptop which will stream a Zoom call? If so, do the same as above. Have each member of the family prepare a special message or song or card for her.

3. If she does not have a laptop or cell phone, then she surely has a land line telephone. Call her and tell her all the reasons you are grateful for her. Have all the members of your family do the same. If I were the grandparent, that would make my entire year.

4. Does she love flowers or special food at Thanksgiving? In California, many restaurants are open for take-out. All of the florist shops are operating. Arrange with Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc. to send her a special dinner from an upscale restaurant, along with a pretty arrangement from a local florist. You can probably think of more suggestions.

5. It is a really bad year, but we will not always be in a pandemic situation. This too, will pass. Explain to her that the special day can be rescheduled, but not cancelled.
