Yes, Joey Duenas started at quarterback against Wyoming in 1971 and as best as I can recall he played most of the game. Ken Johnson was the starter, but he was hurt and I don't think he played. I can't remember what his injury was. I think Rich Bland may have also gotten a few reps at quarterback in that game.

There was about a foot of snow from a big September storm on Friday before the game. The snow was cleared from the artificial turf by game time. The turf was installed before the 1971 season in response to the big snow that ruined the grass field a couple of years earlier in a game against Indiana. That's the game where Coach Crowder shifted Bobby Anderson to tailback from quarterback. Paul Arendt started at quarterback instead of Anderson.
