The answer is kinda-by design. America is a SOCIAL DEMOCRACY. Many Democratic ideals, Capitalism (but no monopolies), Public schools (Social), Social Sec and Medicare,Medicaid, salary of public employees (Fire, PD ,Politicians even) are all socialist in their roots. Is is a hybrid of pure socialism and democracy-it is an experiment. It is organic in nature,but is a lot of USA policies socialist? hell yes. The biggest PURE socialist program of all is directly from MARX and that is subsidies to farmers and growers-which we do a ton of. Yes it is true, the most socialist states in the USA are Kansas, Neb, Ohio, Iowa,Vermont and the rest of the ag states including North and South Dakota with Cattle, corn and gas subsidies.

Sure, we have an open market economy driven and shaped by socialist policies. It works well,but always room for improvement.
